Dating Tips
Statistics show that we make instant judgments within the first 3 seconds of meeting someone – and therefore on a date, you need to make sure you portray the real you!
Tips for women –
- Don’t use too many different products - their smells can combine to high-octane levels.
- Less is always, always more – look sophisticated, not cheap.
- Bright red lips, and long red nails are not the look for dates.
- Wear your regular, but minimal jewelry, you don’t want to look like Mr T!
- Don’t try too hard, trendy is great, but can be off-putting.
- Use a colour corrector as a base if you usually go red after a drink, or flush a lot – check your local department store make up counter.
- Don’t go shopping for a new outfit for a first date, you will end up with something that doesn’t fit, feel right, and it can distract your confidence.
- Wear good underwear, think Bridget Jones – big or little knickers, and do wear a good bra – one that fits!
Tips for men –
- Be sufficiently confident to compliment your date on what she is wearing – chances are that she has spent hours agonising what to wear – and its nice for you to notice something that you genuinely like.
- Make sure you wear subtle deodorant, you might think sweat is masculine, women generally don’t.
- If you don’t regularly wear a suit, don’t wear one for your date. You will feel uncomfortable, and not be able to relax.
- Save the joke t-shirt, character tie for your mates – they generally do not impress women, and do not show your quirky side!
- Smart separates are usually a good bet, but make sure they are clean and ironed.
- Sandals are ok for the beach, but its only usually models with beautiful feet who can get away with them in the UK.
- On the first date, don’t try to amaze her with your tattoos & piercing's– leave them for another time.
Date Style Tips – do’s
- Do make sure that your hair; nails and teeth are all scrupulously clean.
- Do wear an outfit that you are comfortable in, and fits properly. There is nothing worse that a body squeezed into too tight an outfit.
- Do make sure that your outfit is suitable for the venue / time of day.
- Do remember that less is more in every respect on a date – less aftershave, fake tan, or jewelry.
- Do have a glass of milk, or a snack before you go. It will help to stop your first drink going to your head, and should help calm those butterflies.
Date Style Tips – don’ts
- Don’t turn up late
- Don’t have a pre-date drink to steady your nerves
- Don’t try a ‘new look’ just for your date. Your date is there because they want to get to know you, not someone that you would like to be.
- Don’t spend that whole date talking about your ex, your dog, your family, or your last holiday. You should be getting to know a little about each other.
